Rules & Regulations

OVERVIEW

These are the official rules for PARALLEL Tournaments.

  1. Here, we present general definitions that apply to the rules. We also make clear that you have to accept the rules if you want to participate in official tournaments.
  2. We explain who can participate in official tournaments.
  3. We present the generic set of rules for official tournaments. This covers rules about participation, disconnects, streaming, and disqualifications.
  4. Some tournaments have an extended ruleset in addition to the generic rules.
  5. We also explain our main communication channels and how you can contact the tournament organizers.

1. ABOUT THESE RULES

  1. General. These official rules (“Rules”) govern the official tournaments for our PARALLEL ‘PARALLEL’ (“PARALLEL”) including the PARALLEL LEAGUE and the PARALLEL Open tournaments. We might introduce a modified rule set for specific tournaments such as the PARALLEL World Championship.
  2. Parties. These Rules form a contract between Participants and PARALLEL STUDIOS (we will further call ourselves “PARALLEL STUDIOS”, “we” or “our”). “Participant” means any person participating in official tournaments and any other applicable person notified of these Rules by PARALLEL STUDIOS, and “Participants” means all of them.
  3. Additional Documents. In addition to these Rules, Participants must comply with the PARALLEL User Agreement (which contains basic rules about playing PARALLEL and is available at https://parallel.life/terms-of-use (“PARALLEL User Agreement”)), our Naming Policy ( which explains what names you can use as your player name, and our PARALLEL Privacy Policy (which explains how we collect, use and protect information of Participants and is available at https://parallel.life/privacy-policy (“PARALLEL STUDIOS Privacy Policy”)). Please read these documents carefully since these documents are also legally binding on you. If there are any differences between these Rules and the PARALLEL User Agreement or PARALLEL STUDIOS Privacy Policy, these Rules will take priority in relation to tournament specific matters.
  4. Acceptance. Participants must accept these Rules, the PARALLEL User Agreement and PARALLEL STUDIOS Privacy Policy in order to participate in official tournaments. Participants will be deemed to accept these Rules by participating in any part of the official tournaments. If a Participant does not accept or fails to comply with these Rules, he/she/they must not participate in the official tournament(s).
  5. Limitation of Liability. By participating the player agrees to release, discharge, hold harmless and indemnify PARALLEL, its affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies and all of their respective parties from any and all liability, losses and damages of any kind (including, without limitation, arising from claims based upon copyright infringement, trademark infringement, invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity) to persons or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from player's participation in an PARALLEL sponsored tournament and/or the acceptance or use of any prize. PARALLEL is not responsible for any unanticipated technical failure, hardware or software malfunctions, lost or unavailable network connections, failures or difficulties; or for any other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical, or electronic; or for the incorrect or inaccurate capture of game scores or other information, or the failure to capture any such information.

2. ENTRY ELIGIBILITY

  1. Age. Participants aged 18 or over are eligible to participate in the official tournament. Participants aged under 18 are not allowed to participate in official tournaments.
  2. Accounts. To be eligible to participate in official tournaments, Participants must have authorized access to a PARALLEL account and both Participants and their accounts must be in good standing (e.g. not subject to any bans) at the start of and throughout the tournament.
  3. Terms of Service.  Parallel League is Presented by Echelon PRIME Foundation. You agree to the Terms of Service.

Participants must only participate in the tournament using their own PARALLEL account or, if necessary, a specific account provided by PARALLEL STUDIOS. Any Participant may only enter any given tournament with one account. Should a Participant qualify into any official tournament with multiple accounts, they may only participate in that tournament with one account determined by PARALLEL STUDIOS.

  1. Platforms and Location. Participants will be eligible to participate in official tournaments
    (a) across all platforms on which PARALLEL is officially supported (currently PC)
    (b) if they are a legal resident of a territory in which PARALLEL is made available.

  2. Prohibited Entrants. Employees or contractors of PARALLEL STUDIOS are not eligible for and may not participate in official tournaments. Additional exclusions apply as outlined by the Echelon PRIME Foundation Terms of Service.

  3. Other Eligibility Criteria. PARALLEL STUDIOS retains sole and absolute discretion regarding who may and who may not participate in official tournaments. We may designate additional eligibility criteria for Participants to participate in official tournaments if we consider it reasonably necessary (e.g. prohibiting residents from certain territories from competing in official tournaments due to legal or regulatory requirements).
  4. Travel and Expenses
    1. The organizers of certain Tournaments may provide transportation and lodging accommodations to players at certain stages of the Tournament. The specifics of any transportation and lodging will be outlined in the rules for each specific Tournament. In general, any transportation and lodging provided by PARALLEL are governed by the following rules.
    2. PARALLEL will, at its cost, make travel arrangements for players who qualify for sponsored travel under a Tournament’s specific rules and pay the expenses to the vendor directly. The travel expenses of players will not be reimbursed. All PARALLEL-provided travel must take place on the dates and times that Echelon specifies.
    3. Players, at their own cost, must secure all necessary visas, passports, and other travel documentation required to travel to and compete in the country where a live Tournament is taking place. Failure to secure the necessary visas, passports, and other travel documentation or denial of entry to a country where a live Tournament is taking place will result in disqualification from that specific live Tournament.
    4. All players are responsible for all costs and/or expenses associated with their participation in the Tournament, and receipt of any prize that are not specifically designated as the responsibility of PARALLEL in the Tournament specific rules.

3. GENERIC TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. All rulings made by tournament Admins or Organizers are FINAL.
  2. Participation confirmationsome text
    1. Confirmation of participation in the TOURNAMENT is required by submitting your deck lists before the deadline communicated in the announcement email.
    2. Participation in tournaments other than the TOURNAMENT may be done with alternate methods. Follow the instructions communicated in the announcement email for the relevant tournament for further information.
    3. Failure to confirm your participation will result in a forfeit.
  1. No-shows, inability to participatesome text
    1. If you no-show a round in the Qualifier bracket phase you will be automatically disqualified from the event. No exceptions. (No show = no communication with your opponent within 15 minutes of the new round seeding.)
    2. If you are unable to play in the Qualifier or the following round(s), please let an Admin know as soon as possible.
  1. Disconnectionsome text
    1. Should a game end due to DISCONNECTION once both players have seen the game match screen, then the player who disconnects is given the loss. This means a disconnection occurred during or after the VS scene in game. You should inform a tournament admin immediately if this occurs.
    2. There is an exception to this rule if both players are booted from the match and the match is deemed as a crash rather than a disconnection by one player. In this scenario, a rematch will be issued.
    3. If a game ends due to a disconnection BEFORE the game screen is accessed then the match can be replayed. This means a disconnection occurred before the VS scene in game. There is no need to contact an admin in this situation, you can requeue into the match.
    4. Repeated disconnection from games will be reviewed by an Admin and may result in disqualification of the disconnecting party.
    6. During a finals, top cuts, Major or World Championship, rulings on disconnections are at the discretion of the tournament organizer and production. A rematch may be issued even if a disconnection does not fall under one of the categories above. This does NOT apply to swiss, qualifier, offline or any tournaments and or stages not deemed “high stakes”, top cuts, or a final.
  2. Deckssome text
    1. If you queue into a match with the wrong deck list you must notify your opponent and an admin immediately. Selecting the wrong deck from your list of submitted deck lists, or selecting a banned deck will result in an automatic loss. If the tournament is being run on the Echelon Tournament App, this loss will be reflected automatically when exiting the match.
    2. Any new cards introduced to the game one week or less before a Qualifier or Finals event are forbidden from use in the event in question. (E.g. if a new card is introduced Monday, July 11th and you have a Qualifier on Saturday, July 16th, you cannot use that card in that Qualifier. That card will however be usable in the Finals the following weekend, Saturday, July 23rd.)
    3. Decks are subject to verification at any time if deemed necessary by an Admin.
  1. Streaming and sharing matches real timesome text
    1. Streaming your games, or someone else's, during any Tournament Finals is not permitted. Doing so may result in disqualification.
    2. You may stream your Tournament Qualifiers games at your own risk. In order to ensure that you are in compliance with not receiving any help from outsiders, we recommend that you stream with at least a 15 minute delay.
  1. Disqualifications & Cheating some text
    1. If you are caught cheating, acting with exploitative behavior, or are disruptive to the event and/or the admins you will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.
